Bramsche-Kalkriese: Výstava Ich Germanicus. Feldherr, Priester, Superstar (Exhibition I, Germanicus!)

Anotace:

Od 26. června 2015 bude v muzeu a parku Kalkriese nedaleko Osnabrücku k vidění mezinárodní výstava nazvaná „Ich Germanicus. Feldherr, Priester, Superstar“. Jejím cílem je přiblížit události po roce 9 n. l., kdy byly na území dnešního Dolního Saska zmasakrovány germánskými kmeny tři římské legie.

Kolem sto padesáti exponátů představí široké veřejnosti římské „protigermánské“ akce z let 14-15 n. l., kdy se do čela armády postavil Nero Claudius Drusus (15 před n. l. – 19 n. l.). Vojevůdce, známější jako Germanicus měl na příkaz svého adoptivního otce, císaře Tiberia (vládl v letech 14-37), porazit germánské kmeny.

Mezi nejvýznamnější exponáty bude patřit tzv. Tiberiův meč z Britského muzea, který společně s dalšími cennými předměty umožní návštěvníkům nahlédnout do římské císařské rodiny, která bojovala nejen o moc ve státě, ale i o přízeň lidu.

Výstava „Ich Germanicus. Feldherr, Priester, Superstar“ potrvá do 1. listopadu 2015.

The international special exhibition »I, Germanicus!« focuses on the years following the devastating defeat of the Romans in the year 9 AD from the perspective of Germanicus, a Roman general and aspirant to the Roman imperial throne. The years 15/16 AD prove to be fateful years: Backed up by eight legions and one-thousand battle ships, Germanicus sets out to conquer the region that is today’s Lower Saxony.

His mission: to avenge the dead, to win back the army standard, to pin down Arminius and turn Germania into Roman territory. Yet once more Rome fails in its attempt to subdue Germania. The reasons for the Roman troops’ failure will be highlighted in the exhibition. A reconstruction of this large-scale military operation’s logistics grants brand-new insights into the strategy and organizational structures of Roman warfare in the years 15 and 16 AD.

Starting point and key exhibit of this exhibition are the bone pits found at Kalkriese. Until today, they are the only known archaeological testimony dating to the “Germanicus period.” So who exactly was this Germanicus? The exhibition portrays an unusual personality and allows us to gain impressions of an utterly ruthless, yet remarkable imperial family.
