Anotace:

Nakladatelství Schnell & Steiner vydalo kolektivní monografii „Gates to Paradise. Metal Doors of the 11th–12th Century“, která představuje komplex dochovaných bronzových dveří, které jsou nejen jedinečnou ukázkou kovolitectví.

Většina dochovaných bronzových dveří pochází z 11. a 12. století a nacházejí se v Itálii. Byly vyrobeny z různých slitin mědi metodou ztraceného vosku. Mohly být odlévány buď jako celek, nebo mohly být jednotlivé kovové části připevněny k dřevěnému základu. Některé dveře mají intarzie z různých materiálů, což umožňovalo barevné zobrazení různých biblických scén nebo svatých.

Díky kompletní fotografické dokumentaci ve vysokém rozlišení, 3D modelům a komplexním analýzám materiálů nyní můžeme odpovědět na otázky týkající se výroby nebo výběru materiálů všech dveří. Kniha přibližuje nejnovější interdisciplinární výzkum a jeho poznatky. (SK)
