USA: Vyšla obsáhlá monografie Meredith Parsons Lillich o sklomalbách ve francouzské korunovační katedrále v Remeši (The Gothic Stained Glass of Reims Cathedral)

Anotace:

Významná americká badatelka Meredith Parsons Lillich vydala koncem roku 2011 svoji životní knihu věnovanou vitrajím ve francouzské korunovační katedrále v Remeši. Souborně tu věnuje pozornost stylu i chronologii, od prvních lancetových oken v chóru z 20. let 13. století až po závěrečnou západní rozetu z 90. let 13. století.

Autorka také usiluje o rekonstrukci původního programu výzdoby, který byl z větší části zničen za bombardování města německými kanóny v roce 1914.

Meredith Parsons Lillich se Remeší systematicky zabývá po mnoho let a knize předcházela řada dílčích studií. Publikace je však i završením jejího celoživotního zájmu o francouzskou sklomalbu 13. století, jak to dokumentují její knihy o vitrajích kostela sv. Petra v Chartres (The stained glass of Saint-Père de Chartres, 1978) a souborný přehled o sklomalbě ve středověké západní Francii (The armor of light: stained glass in western France, 1250 - 1325, 1994).

Knihu The Gothic Stained Glass of Reims Cathedral provázejí četné pozitivní ohlasy mnoha amerických uměnovědců a historiků, otištěné na obálce knihy. Jistým zklamáním mohou být snad jen průměrné fotografie, které knihu doprovázejí, ale možná můj celkový dojem trochu „kazí" mnohé původní dokumentární snímky pořízené před první světovou válkou. Kniha je nesporně základním dílem k poznání středověkých vitrají v nejvýznamnější gotické katedrále Francie.
